Gorgon/The Veil Of Darkness/Osmose Productions/2019 CD Review

  Gorgon  are  a  solo  project  from  France  that  plays  a  very  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  album  "The  Veil  Of  Darkness"  which  will  be  released  in  2019  by  Osmose  Productions.

  Acoustic  guitar  playing   and  evil  whispers  start  off  the  album  along  with  a  brief  use  of  demonic  voices  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  growls  and  when  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  are  utilized  they  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  style  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  as  the  album  progresses  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  utilizing  some  melody  at  times  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Gorgon  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  old  school  and  traditional  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  War  and  Darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Gorgon  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Stil  Six  Six  Six"  "Border  Of  The  Forest"  "Burned  For  Him"  and  "Our  Crusade".  8  out  of  10.
