Sidious are a band from the United Kingdom that started out playing a symphonic mixture of black and death metal and on this recording have evolved into a more guitar driven black metal style and this is a review of their self released 2019 album "Temporal" which will be released in May.
Grim black metal screams along with some heavy riffing starts off the album while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them. A decent amount of melody can also be heard in the guitar riffing along with the music also adding death metal growls into some parts of the music.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style.
Some of the tracks are very long and epic in length while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them. A decent amount of 90's influences can also be heard in the bands musical style but with a more updated approach and as the album progresses a brief use of clean vocals, spoken word parts and classical guitars can also be heard. The production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover darkness and occult themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album which shows Sidious moving away from a symphonic style to focus more on a guitar driven style of black metal while still having a touch of death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Serpent King" "At The Altar Of The Horns" and "Piercing The Skin Of Narcissus". 8 out of 10.
