Oreida are a band from Iceland that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very raw and lo-fi form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2019 album which will be released in April by Harvest Of Death.
A very fast, raw and lo-fi black emtal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are mixed down low in the mix and also bring in a very raw yet melodic style and all of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
All of the music is instrumental while also evoking an improv and trance like atmosphere at times. Synths can also be heard in some parts of the music without losing any of the primitive aggression that is also a very huge part of the recording, most of the music sticks to a fast direction along with all of the riffing being done on power chords.
On this recording Oreida remains true to the raw and lo-fi black metal style of the previous release while expanding on the synths to give the songs more of an atmospheric feeling and the production sounds very dark and raw.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Oreida and if you are a fan of atmospheric, raw and lo-fi black metal, you should check out t his album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Draumar" and "Draugar". 8 out of 10.
