Suspiral are a band from Spain that plays a raw mixture of black and death metal with some experimental, psychedelic and krautrock elements and this is a review of their 2019 album "Chasm" which will be released in May by Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
Dark yet heavy riffing starts off the album while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of tremolo picking and brutal blast beats which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams along with the music also mixing in a great amount of death metal elements. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very distorted style while the faster sections of the songs also show a good amount of war metal influences.
Bestial growls can also be heard at times while all of the tracks are very long and epic in length. Experimental, psychedelic and krautrock elements are also added into some parts of the music along with some clean playing also being utilized briefly and at times the music also mixes in some dissonant structures as well as adding in a small amount of melody as the album progresses. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Occultism themes.
In my opinion Suspiral are a very great sounding raw and experimental mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Crown Of Chaos" and "The Crimson Void". 8 out of 10.
