Worhs are a duo from France that plays a very experimental and avant garde form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "La grande poisseuse" which was released by Mort sur Musique.
Dark sounding synths start off the album along with some clean playing a few seconds later before going into a heavier direction. The clear vocals also give the songs more of an avant garde feeling along with some spoken word parts also being utilized on a couple of songs and the music also has its experimental moments.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while aggressive vocals are also a very huge part of the album as well as adding in some growls and screams at times. Raw black metal style tremolo picking can also be heard at times along with the guitar leads also being done in more of a darker style, when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard and a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Worhs plays a style of black metal that is very experimental and avant garde sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in French and cover mental health themes.
In my opinion Worhs are a very great sounding experimental and avant garde black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "La grande poisseuse" "Bistarka" "Dernière volonté" and "À vivre à mort". 8 out of 10.
