Mourning Hours are a 1 man band from Bangladesh that mixes depressive black metal with atmospheric doom metal and this is a review of their 2012 album "From Here To Nothingness" which was released by III Rooks Records.
Drums programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast beats, while the synths bring a very dark and atmospheric ambient sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to depressive black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with a good amount of atmospheric doom metal influences being thrown into the riffing as well as a great amount of melody and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they bring an ethnic and old music sound to the recording. with a good amount of finger picking and full chords.
Vocals are mostly high pitched and distorted sounding black metal screams along with a brief use of choirs, clean singing and whispered vocals as well as some spoken word parts, while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound with one of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Mourning Hours are a very great sounding hybrid of depressive black metal, atmospheric rock and doom metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band.
