Dead In The Manger are a band from Washington that plays a mixture of depressive black metal and grindcore and this is a review of their 2014 album "Transcience" which was released by 20 Buck Spin.
The album starts out with some distorted clean playing before adding in grim depressive black metal screams and you can also hear sound effects in the background and after a few minutes heavier parts are added into the music.
When the album goes into other songs the music goes more into a fast and brutal direction along with blast beats and grindcore elements while also keeping around the depressive black metal screams and after awhile melody is added into certain parts of the recording and when we get more into the album slower sections are added into certain parts of the recording as well as a small amount of spoken word samples.
Dead in the Manger bring in a very original sound with this recording with the way they mix depressive black metal with grindcore and the music ranges from slow suicidal parts to fast and brutal parts which also add to the originality of the recording.
Song lyrics cover dark, depressive and violent themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful and heavy sound to it.
In my opinion Dead In the Manger are a very great sounding mixture of depressive black metal and grindcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE Part II" and "Part VI". 8 out of 10.
