Inferion are a band from Florida that has been featured before in this zine and plays more of a raw and melodic style of black/death metal and this recording and this is a review of their 2014 album "This Will Decay" which will be released in October by HPGD Productions.
A very fast and melodic black metal sound starts off the album along with some high pitched screams before adding in deep growls and a touch of the 90's style Swedish death metal sound and it leads up to some blast beats and a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads they us e are in a very chaotic and old school black/death metal direction.
On some of the later tracks the band manages to bring in an atmospheric sound with the guitars alone which also does not take away from the heavier side of the bands musical style and the solos also start having more of a melodic edge to them as the album progresses and the death metal influence has more of a power presence on this album than it did on the previous recording while you can still hear a decent amount of raw and melodic black metal elements as well as a few tracks being very long and epic in length and the last few tracks show the band adding in some elements of thrash metal.
Inferion manages to create an album that is very heavy from beginning to end without ever bringing in a soft moment and they take the raw and melodic black metal style of their previous recording and add in more blackened death and traditional death metal elements to create a long and epic 55 minute album, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover apocalyptic themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Inferion and if you are a fan of raw and melodic black/death metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "This Will Decay" "Tempted by Failure" "The Serpent In The Valley" and "A hell to Endure". 8 out of 10.
