Abusiveness/Bramy Nawii/Arachnophobia Records/2014 CD Review

  Abusiveness  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  a  very  heavy  and  aggressive  form  of  pagan/black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Bramy  Nawii"  which  will  be  released  on  September  15th  by  Arachnophobia   Records.

  Thunder,  rain  and  nature  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  sound  effects  and  a  dark  guitar  tone  before  going  into  more  of  an  atmospheric  black  metal  direction  as  well  as  adding  in  blast  beats  and  powerful  sounding  bass  guitars  which  lead  up  to  some  solos  and  leads  which  also  can  be  very  melodic  at  times  and  then  the  deep  and  grim  vocals  start  to  kick  in.

  You  can  hear  some  influences  from  death  metal  being  mixed  in  with  the  bands  musical  style  as  well  as  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  on  some  of  the  later  songs  you  can  hear  a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars  being  utilized  at  times  while  the  main  focus  remains  on  a  very  fast  and  brutal  musical style.

  In  all  of  the  songs  on  the  recording  the  band  display  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill  on  their  musical  instruments  while  also  retaining  the  rawness  of  true  black  metal  and  the  vocals  can also  be  very  diverse  along  with  one  song  seeing  them  adding  in  more  melody  yet  grim  all  at  the  same  time  as  well  as  adding  a  bit of  death  metal  growls  at  times  and  after  awhile  spoken  word  parts  can  be  heard  briefly  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording ,  towards  the  end  of  the  album  the  band  brings  in  a  10  minute  track.

  Abusiveness  creates  a  very  heavy  and  aggressive  style  of  black  metal  with  their  musical  style  taking  the  rawness  of  the  genre  and  mixing  it  in  with  the  brutality  of  death  metal  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  while  also  retaining  a  good  amount  of  atmosphere,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Polish  and  cover  Paganism,  Darkness,  legends  and  Anti  Christian  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Abusiveness  are  a  very  great  sounding  heavy,  fast  and  aggressive  pagan/black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "W  GOr  Chor  gwie"  "Niez  omni"  and  "Proces".  8  out  of  10.
