Vastator are a band from Germany that plays a very raw, satanic and anti human form of black/war metal and this is a review of their 2014 cassette "Execute Them All" which was released by Wohrt Records.
Spoken word samples which are also used later on during the recording start off the cassette before going into more of a raw and old school black metal sound along with some grim screams and bestial growls and after a few seconds the music starts to get more fast along with some blast beats and the band also brings in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When solos and leads are added into the music they bring in a style that reminds me of the 90's Australian war metal days and some of the songs also see the band bringing in a little bit of melody while the main focus remains on a very raw and heavy black/war metal direction that brings in a great amount of violence and chaos.
Vastator go back to the 90's style of war and black metal with their musical style bringing in a great amount of rawness and heaviness as will as making each song sound different and stand out, the production has a very raw and old school sound while the lyrics cover Warfare, Anti Religion, Satanism and Anti Human themes.
In my opinion Vastator are a very great sounding raw, heavy and aggressive black/war metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this cassette. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Execute Em' All" and "Black Pentagram Deathlust". 8/5 out of 10.
