Ordinul Negru are a band from Romania that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording played a very raw, atmospheric and misanthropic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2011 album "Nostalgia Of The Fullmoon Nights" which was re-issued in 2019 by Loud Rage Music.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. A great amount of 90's era second wave influences can also be heard in the bands musical style while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams and a lot of the music sounds like it could of easily been recorded and released more than 20 years ago,
Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly while the music gets very atmospheric sounding at times along with a small amount of synths being utilized. A couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length while some songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
One song also introduces clean playing onto the recording and as the album progresses the riffs also start adding in a small amount of melody and melodic chants are also used fro a few seconds on the closing track. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover darkness, nature, occult and misanthropic themes.
In my opinion this was a very great sounding album from Ordinul Negru and if you are a fan of raw, misanthropic, atmospheric and old school black metal, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Steps Over Time" "Degeneration" and "Beyond Twilight". 8/5 out of 10.
