Coil Commemorate Enslave are a band from Italy that plays post black metal and this is a review of their self released 2019 album "The Unavoidable".
Spoken word parts and post rock style soundscapes start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction. A great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the vocals being mostly angry sounding black metal screams while clean vocals can also be heard at times
During the faster sections of the songs a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic post metal style as well a couple of tracks also adds in a brief use of clean guitars along with some whispered vocals also being utilized at times. The production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover the philosophical writings of Leopardi and Cioran.
In my opinion Coil Commemorate Enslave are a very great sounding post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Anti Prophet" and "ThE Snake And The Rope". 8 out of 10.
