Winds Of Tragedy are a solo project from Chile that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording goes for more of an atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of his 2023 album "Hating Life" which will b e released in February as a joint effort between Meuse Music Recordings and Tragedy Productions.
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with some synths and acoustic guitars a few seconds later before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are a mixture of grim depressive black metal screams and death metal growls.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style while the music also has its atmospheric moments. Elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs along with the tracks also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts
On this album Winds of tragedy takes a very atmospheric and depressive style of black metal and mixes it with melodic doom/death metal to create a very diverse release. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover despair, isolation and mourning themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Winds Of Tragedy and if you are a f an of atmospheric, depressive and melodic black, doom and death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Living A Lie" "No reason To Go On" and "Remember We Died". 8 out of 10.
