Kludde are a band from Belgium that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording goes for more of an atmospheric style of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "De Horla" which will be released on March 31st by Consouling Sounds.
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with some clean playing a few seconds later while clear singing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style and the heavier riffs also add in a decent amount of melody.
Elements of sludge and doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs while the faster sections of the album also add in a decent amount of blast b eats and tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw feeling and the vocals also add in a lot of high pitched black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also having its atmospheric moments. A couple of the tracks are also instrumentals as well as a great portion of the tracks also being very long and epic in length. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album based upon lust, hate and vengeance with the main character being disfigured, abandoned at birth and picked up by a travelling circus.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Kludde and if you are a fan of atmospheric black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Horla I: Over Lust" and "Horla III: Over Wraak". 8 out of 10.
