Aldrig are a band from Belgium that plays an avant garde mixture of post black, sludge and doom metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Yagmur" which will be released on November 23rd by Wolves And Vibrancy.
Choirs and clear singing start off the album before going into a heavier direction while also introducing angry shouts onto the recording. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the album more of a raw feeling and most of t he vocals a re done in an angry black metal direction.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic post metal style while the slower sections of the songs bring in elements of sludge and doom metal. Melodies are also added into a lot of the guitar riffing and the tracks also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the music also having its avant garde moments. Clean playing and synths can also be heard in certain sections of the recording as well as most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length, spoken word parts can also b e heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in their native tongue and cover a character falling through time and space.
In my opinion Aldrig are a very great sounding avant garde mixture of post black, sludge and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you sohuld check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Amarone" and "Hasret". 8 out of 10.
