Nigrum Vortex are a band from Peru that plays a very fast and aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 ep "Across The Nigrum Vortex" which was released by Oratorivm Records.
A very fast, raw and brutal sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with some of the riffing also adding in a small amount of melody and the songs also add in a good mixture of old school and modern influences.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while angry shouts can also be heard briefly. Some of the riffing also adds in elements of death metal along with all of the songs avoiding the use of solos and leads and the whole recording also sticks to a heavier direction.
Nigrum Vortex plays a style of black metal that is very fast, aggressive, raw and brutal sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness, death and horror themes.
In my opinion Nigrum Vortex are a very great sounding fast and aggressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Towards True Death" and "Across The Nigrum Vortex". 8 out of 10.
