Endless Dismal Moan where a solo project from Japan that played a very raw, depressive and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2006 album "Lord Of Nightmare" which will be re-issued in July, 2025 by Hessian Firm.
Clean playing and synths start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams. A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody and blast beats are added into the faster sections of the songs.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the songs more of a raw feeling while the synths also bring in more of an atmospheric touch. All of the drum beats are also programmed along with the music also capturing a very lo-fi atmosphere at times and the tracks also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them as well as the closing track also adding in elements of noise and drone.
Endless Dismal Mon played a style of black metal that was very raw, atmospheric and depressive sounding as well as being very original for its time. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover cyberpunk and urban horror themes.
In my opinion Endless Dismal Moan where a very great sounding raw, atmospheric and depressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Thirst For Pleasure" and "Lord of Nightmare". 8 out of 10.
