Italy's The Scars In Pneuma have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a melodic mixture of black and doom metal and this is a review of their 2026 album "Cursed Songs From The Garden Of Twilight" which will be released in october by masked Dead Records.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with the vocals being mostly grim sounding black metal screams and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
Melodies are also added into a lot of the guitar riffing while the album also adds in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Elements of doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the recording along with a great portion of the tracks also being long and epic in length.
Clean playing and acoustic guitars can also be heard on a few songs along with a couple of tracks also being instrumentals as well as some guttural growls also being utilized at times, synths can also be heard briefly and spoken words are also added towards the end. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cove duality, nature and civilization themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from The Scars In Pneuma and if you are a fan of melodic black and doom metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Before It All Ends" "Secret Fire" and "Cometa". 8 out of 10.
