With The End In Mind are a 1 man band from Olympia, Washington that plays a very atmospheric from of cascadian, post black metal and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2013 ep.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars, as for the sound effects when they are utilized bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the ep.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast atmospheric cascadian style black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding at times as well as having some melody and clean playing being thrown into the riffing at times as well some doom metal influences, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding post black metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized use full chords to add some folk music elements to the recording.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with a few seconds of clean singing, while the lyrics cover darkness and nature themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion With The End In Mind are a very great sounding atmospheric, and primitive cascadian black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Rich Smell Of Decay, And The Promise Of Things To Come". RECOMMENDED BUY.
