Hex Morbidity are a solo project from Wales in the united Kingdom that plays a very melancholic form of black metal and this is a review of his self titled and self released 2016 ep.
Stringed instruments start off the ep before going into a heavier and melodic direction a few seconds later and you can also hear elements of doom metal in the music and after awhile grim black metal screams make their presence known on the recording and keyboards can also be heard at times.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the songs more of a raw black metal feeling while the faster sections of the songs bring in a decent amount of blast beats and the music is also very heavily rooted in the early 90's second wave style and you can also hear a touch of the british style in the tracks and the solos and leads are done in a very melodic fashion and the music also brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Hex Morbidity plays a style of black metal that is very melancholic and heavily rooted in the 90's, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Occultism, Witchcraft and Romantic topics.
In my opinion Hex Morbidity are a very great sounding melancholic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Spirits Of Aldywch". 8 out of 10.
