Nero Barlume are a solo project from Italy that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of his 2016 ep "Abyssus" which was released by Winterwolf Records.
A very dark ambient orientated sound starts off the ep along with some atmospheric flutes and after awhile the music starts going into more of a heavier and depressive style that also introduces high pitched black metal screams onto the recording and both of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
A lot of times the music is very atmospheric and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic fashion and the music also gets very experimentla at times and the tremolo picking when it is utilized gives the music more of a raw feeling while both of the tracks stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction and clean guitars can be heard on the second track.
Nero Barlume creates another recording that remains true to the atmospheric and depressive black metal style of his previous release, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Introspective and Darkness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nero Barlume and if you are a fan of atmospheric and depressive black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Abyssus II". 8 out of 10.
