Vvilderness are a solo project from Hungary that plays a mixture of atmospheric black metal and blackgaze and this is a review of his album "Devour The Sun" which will be released in 2018 as a joint effort between Beverina and Casus Belli Musica.
Atmospheric drones and soundscapes start off the album while ambient elements can also be heard briefly as well a s some synths and stringed instruments and after awhile heavy guitar riffs are added onto the recording and blast beats can be heard during the faster sections of the songs.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the songs a more raw feeling while t he riffs also bring in a great amount of melody along with the vocals being deep growls and black metal screams and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion as well as the music mixing in elements of shoegaze.
Clean playing and acoustic guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length. and there is also a brief instrumental track as the album progresses.
Vvilderness plays a musical style that takes atmospheric black metal and blackgaze and mixes them together to create a sound of his own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover nature, cosmos, science and mythology themes.
In my opinion Vvilderness are a very great sounding mixture of atmospheric black metal and blackgaze and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sol" and "Aftershine". 8 out of 10.
