Vetela are a band from Portugal that plays a very raw and improvised form of satanic black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Retarded Necro Demential Hole" which will be released in December by Harvest Of Death.
A very raw and necro sound starts off the album along with a decent amount of blast beats while the vocals are mostly grim, high pitched and depressive black metal screams along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them as well as some synths also being utilized briefly.
All of the tracks are instrumental while all of the music is improvised while clean playing can also be heard briefly along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the riffs also utilizing a lot of tremolo picking during the faster sections of the songs, in some parts of the music a small amount of dark sounding melodies can also be heard and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very primitive style.
Vetela plays a style of black metal that is very raw and improvised sounding while also having a good amount of 90's influences, the production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Vetela are a very great sounding raw and improvised satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. 8 out of 10.
