Nobody are a band from Cincinnati, Ohio that plays a very atmospheric and depressive from of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Despair Is Where My Thoughts Swim" which will be released in may as a joint effort between End My Life Records and Tragedy Productions.
Clean playing and atmospheric sounding synths start off the album while the vocals are mostly high pitched yet depressive sounding black metal screams. Melodies are also added into a lot of the heavier riffing along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of blast beats.
When tremolo picking is also added into the faster riffing they also give the album more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also h ear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in more of a melodic post metal style when they are utilized.
Spoken word parts can also be heard on a few tracks along with all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them as well as some acoustic guitars also being utilized briefly, some of the songs also mix in influences of doom metal, post punk and indie rock. Clear vocals are also added on one song and the album also closes with a Lifelover cover. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover sadness and regret themes.
In my opinion Nobody are a very great sounding atmospheric and depressive post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Life's Ephemeral Tale" "Days Drift By" "The Path Of Ashes" and "Into The Quietus of The Night". 8 out of 10.
