1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
The band was founded in 2013. in 2014 we released the demo "In Peccatis Nostris in Sanguine" which was aimed at the old school of black metal. In 2020, we released the split "Underground Covenant - Anal Terror II", which was a promotion of the festival that was created in our hometown and at which we also played. In the same year, we released the full-length album "Ashes", which was released by the Colombian "Tribulación Productions". A year later, the split "Devilish Union" with death metal band Morte was released. Currently, on June 14, the premiere of our second full-length album "Hosanna" will take place thanks to Theogonia records.
2.In June you have a new album coming out, musically how does it differ from the material you have released in the past?
Each of our materials is different from the previous one. On this album we decided to use keyboards, lots of ambient sounds, etc., which could not be seen on previous releases. This also influenced the atmosphere on the album, which is thicker but also more elevated.
3.A lot of your lyrics cover existential themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in this topic?
The texts refer to everyday life and difficulties that people face, to all the negative emotions that accompany people in their daily wanderings
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'AntiFlesh'?
I have always been inspired by twisted things and atmospheres such as Eg Gein, Andrei Czikitajło or even John George Haigh. What guided them, what was in their minds, what they felt when they did their actions. What darkest corners of their mind have they reached? Antiflesh, i.e. Anti Corporeal, a name that refers to what is inside a person, to the worst features, thoughts and emotions into which a person sinks into madness.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
The cover photo was taken in the forest in the nearby town of Milicz, on the remains of a women's concentration camp. These are a kind of door to this dark era of people and thoughts that circulated around.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
The best concert we played... I think I had 2 of them. The first one was a joint gig at Siekiera Fest, of which I am the main leader, together with Curse Upon a Prayer and Gehenna(nor). The second one was Dark Fest in 2015 together with the legends of Polish Black Metal Arkona and Furia. As for the performances, we have now started to pay more attention to the overall setting, from the interludes between the numbers, through the candles and the entire lighting on the skulls.
7.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?
Yes, we have a few smaller/larger festivals planned in our country and the Czech Republic. We also plan to go on tour in Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic.
8.So far you have been a part of a couple of splits, can you tell us a little bit more about the bands or musical projects you shared this recording with?
As I mentioned in the answer to the first question, the first split was related to the promotion of the anal terror festival, for which Death Metalowe Hegony was responsible, the split also included two death crews, Necrosys - which no longer exists, and the brutal death metal band Disorder. We all know each other, so organizing a festival and playing together is just a matter of 2-3 phone calls away. As for the second split, the story is different, I received a call from a friend from the death metal band Morte who wanted to do a split with us, I said ok, why not. And that's how Devilish Union was created, where each band contributed two previously unplayed songs.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
I don't know, this question should be directed to people who listen to this type of music, we think they perceive albums or concerts well, but people's thoughts are not examined.
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We try to play what we like, we still stick to the atmosphere of the 90s. I already have 15 songs ready for the successor to "Hosanna", including a cover of Judas Priest, which I love musically. We want to play more and more and promote the upcoming release. I hope that we will also visit Scandinavian countries in the future.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
This is a great topic, definitely influenced by Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Mayhem (I love the Ordo Ad Chao album - a masterpiece), Katatonia, Hypocrisy, old music in general. Currently, there are 3 albums in my player:
Marilyn Manson - Holy Wood
Katatonia - The great Cold Distance
Gorgoroth - Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam.
12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
I want to thank you for this interview and invite all readers to listen to our album Hosanna, which will be released on June 14 by Theogonia Records. Join us on this journey through the darkest corners of the human being.
