Drouth are a band from Portland, Oregon that h as had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a very melodic and aggressive mixture of black, doom, death metal and crust and this is a review of their 2025 album "The Teeth Of Time" which will be released in May by Eternal Warfare Records.
Clean playing and synths start off the album before going into a heavier and melodic direction while a great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style and elements of crust are also added into the mid tempo sections.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the slower sections of the songs also adding in a touch of doom metal as well as some of the songs also adding in session work from embers of Ludicra and Isenordal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover philosophy and existentialism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Drouth and if you are a fan of melodic black, doom, death metal and crust, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "False Grail" and "Exult Ye Flagellant". 8 out of 10.
