Nordblut are a band from Austria that h as been featured before in this zine and plays a pagan form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Heathen Path" which will be released in May by TrollZorn Records.
Battle orientated synths start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the riffs also add in a lot of melody. Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Clean playing van also be heard in certain sections of the album while blast beats are also utilized when the music speed up on a few songs. A lot of the riffing also mixes in elements of other metal genres along with one track also being long and epic in length, spoken words can also be heard briefly and most of the album sticks to more of a mid tempo direction.
On this recording Nordblut remain true to the pagan black metal style that they have established on previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in mostly German with one song being written in English and cover Paganism and Anti Christianity themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nordblut and if you are a fan of pagan black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Berserkerwut" "Bis Zum Letzten Mann" and "Heathen Rebellion". 8 out of 10.
