Quebec, Canada's solo project has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for an atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of his 2025 album "Solitude" which will be released in November by Naturmacht Productions.
Winter orientated soundscapes start off the album along with some keyboards a few seconds later which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody.
Vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams while the music also gets very atmospheric sounding at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with some spoken words also being used briefly along with most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length, when the album finally speeds up a small amount of blast beats are also utilized as well as one song also adding in a brief use of clean playing and the closing track is an instrumental.
On this recording Nordicwinter goes for a very slow, atmospheric and depressive style of black metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Coldness, Emptiness, Darkness and Agony themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nordicwinter and if you are a fan of atmospheric and depressive black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Whispers Of Frozen Abyss" and "Eternal Night's Embrace". 8 out of 10.
