Aegeon are a 1 man band from Finland that plays a very raw, atmospheric, and blasphemous form of black metal and this is a review of his 2014 album "Nocturnal Glorification" which was released by Elegy Records.
A very dark, raw and heavy sound starts off the album along with some grim screams and an atmospheric background as well as all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful and at times the music can also be melodic with both the guitar riffing and leads along with a few tracks that are also very long and epic in length
Whispers can be heard in certain sections of the recording and most of the music sticks to either a slow or mid paced musical direction along with the vocals also bringing in depressive screams into some parts of the tracks along with a slight ambient black metal feeling that seems to have some USBM influences and as the album progresses the music speeds up at times while also introducing a small amount of blast beats onto the recording.
Aegeon plays a style of black metal that is very epic, grim, melodic and atmospheric while also sticking to more of a slow or mid paced style and the music also keeps around a good portion of raw elements, the production has a very dark, r aw and heavy sound while the lyrics cover Inner Darkness and Anti Christian themes.
In my opinion Aegeon are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Glorification Of The New Pandemia" "The Cult Of The October" and "The Eternal March Of The Nameless". 8 out of 10.
