Plage are a band with members from both Denmark and Germany that plays a very archaic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Den Krstne Stank" which will be released on April 10th by Alusia Productions.
Dark sound effects start off the album giving the music a feeling of a field recording along with some bells before going into more of a raw black metal direction along with some grim screams and after awhile melodic singing and chants can be heard in certain sections of the recording and the music can get very fast at times and add in blast beats that are very skull crushing.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the band also brings in a great amount of 90's old school black metal elements in there songs at times and you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording, most of the songs avoid any use of solos and leads while they are used briefly on one of the tracks and they are very dark and melodic and there is also one track towards the end that is very long and epic in length and the whole album avoids any use of soft and clean parts to focus more on a raw and true style of black metal.
Plage plays a style of black metal that is very raw, grim and heavily rooted in the second wave sound of the early to mid 90's, the production sounds very raw yet heavy at the same time while the lyrics are written in a mixture of Danish and English and cover dark and violent themes.
In my opinion Plage are a very great sounding raw and archaic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Your Gods Fall" "I Am Death" and "Himlen til Blods". 8 out of 10.
