Upon Graves are a band from Florida that plays an anti cosmic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Ravenous Chaos" which was released by Occult Society Promotions.
Rituakistic bell sounds start off the album before going into more of a raw, heavy and melodic black metal direction which also introduces high pitched screams to the recording and blast beats and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and you can also hear death metal growls in certain sections of the recording.
Throughout the album t here is a great mixture of slow, mid pace d and fast parts and the band also brings in a style that mixes black and death metal together and clean playing can be heard on some of the tracks and there are also a small amount of whispers being utilized on a few of the songs and the bands musical style is very heavily rooted in the melodic Swedish black metal sound and as the album progresses one of the tracks also brings in a brief use of ritualistic spoken word parts.
Upon Graves plays a style of black metal that is very heavily rooted in the Swedish sound and also adds in touch of death metal to make their music sound a bit more different, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Anti Cosmic Luciferianism, Chaos and Death.
In my opinion Upon Graves are a very great sounding mixture of anti cosmic black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Embraced By Eternal Darkness" "Descent From the Devil" and "The Shadow of Death". 8 out of 10.
