Sercati are a band from Belgium that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very melodic and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 ep "In The Shadow Of Sidewalks" which was released by WormHoleDeath Records.
Dark sounding keyboards start off the ep along with some spoken word parts a few seconds later and on the second track the music starts adding in more symphonic elements along with some powerful sounding bass lines in the background before adding in acoustic guitars and grim black metal screams.
Elements of ambient can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording along with some militant drum beats and when solos and leads are utilized they are done in more of a melodic musical style and on the third track the guitars start to bring in more of a heavier style that is closer to melodic black metal while the music also remains atmospheric and the songs also stick to mostly either a slow or mid paced musical direction.
Sercati remains true to the melodic and atmospheric style they have established and previous recordings and they still have a grim feeling and the keyboards are still a very huge part of their sound, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics continue the concept of the archangel known as 'The Nightstalker'.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Sercati and if you are a fan of this band, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Anesthetist" and "Natural City". 8 out of 10.
