Katari are a band from Peru that plays an old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Ave, Rex Ivdaervm!" which will be released in May by From Deepest Records.
Drum beats along with some heavy riffs start off the album while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling as well as the music being very heavily rooted in the 90's.
Some of the riffing also brings in a small amount of dark sounding melodies while the solos and leads also remain very true to an old school style along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the music always remaining very heavy and they also bring in an instrumental track.
Katari plays a style of black metal that is very traditional and old school and also goes back to t he 90's era, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Anti Christianity, Evil and Death themes.
In my opinion Katari are a very great sounding old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Extermination" "Fucked by Serpents" and "Acid Venom". 8 out of 10.
