Thymata are an international band with members from Sweden, Greece and Indonesia that are also in more well known bands such as Grimtone, Apocalyptic Leaders and Nattmaran plays a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Embraced By Death" which will be released June by Adironick Black Mass Records.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the songs also bring in a great amount of old school influences.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the vocals also go into more of a deep and grim direction at times. Choirs and ritualistic chants can also be heard on a couple of songs along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized, melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing and clean playing and synths can also be heard briefly as well as a couple of the tracks also being long and epic in length.
Thymata plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school in the classic European tradition. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Luciferian, Occultism, Darkness and Death themes.
In my opinion Thymata are a very great sounding raw and old school occult black metal b and and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Pillars Of God" "Abrasions Of Time" "Desert of Dead Souls" and "Embraced by Death". 8 out of 10.
