Ancient Spirits are a musical project from an unknown location that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 demo "Imprisoned In The Hell Of Eternity" which was released by Humanity's Plague Productions.
Clean playing starts off the demo before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats. When guitar solos and leads are added into the music they are done in a very melodic style and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
The songs also mix in influences from both the old school and modern era's of the genre while all of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffing also adding in a small amount of melody at times, clean playing also returns on the closing track and clear vocals can also be heard briefly.
Ancient Spirits plays a style of black metal that is very raw, aggressive and traditional sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Darkness and Death themes.
In my opinion Ancient Spirits are a very great sounding raw black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Towards A Dark Sky". 8 out of 10.
