Bludgeon Oath are a duo from Quebec, Canada that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "A Burning Wrath" which was released by Psalmodist Records.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the album while you can also hear all of t he musical instruments that are present on the recording. All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the vocals mostly black emtal screams that range from deep to high pitched and the faster sections of the songs also add in a lot of blast b eats.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the music more of raw feeling while t he songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Clean playing and synths can also be heard at times along with the music also having its atmospheric moments and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
Bludgeon Oath plays a style of black metal that is very raw, atmospheric and cinematic sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover internal turmoil and visceral bloodshed.
In my opinion Bludgeon Oath are a very great sounding raw and atmospheric black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Burning Wrath" and "Behold The Overwhelming Power". 8 out of 10.
