Vemond are a band from Norway that plays a mixture of black metal and darkgaze and this is a review of their album "The Deepening" which will be released in 2024 by Prophecy Productions.
Clean playing and synths start off t he album before going into a heavier direction while the riffs also add in a lot of melody. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Elements of post rock and shoegaze can also be heard at times along with all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the album you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style. Clean vocals are also added into certain sections of the recording as well as the music also having its atmospheric moments. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover change, transience, transformation and growth.
In my opinion Vemond are a very great sounding mixture of black metal and darkgaze and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "True North Beckons" and "The Deepening". 8 out of 10.
