Vitriolo are a solo project from Portugal that plays a satanic form of black'n'roll and this is a review of his self released 2023 album 'Conjuro".
A very heavy and aggressive black'n;roll sound starts off the album while the vocals are done in a deep style that shows an influence of the first wave along with a few screams as well as the tremolo picking also giving the music more of a raw feeling when it is utilized and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the guitar leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style when they are introduced into the music. Blast beats can also be heard in the faster sections of the songs along with one track also adding in a brief use of ritualistic spoken word parts and most of the recording sticks to a mid tempo direction, keyboards are also added briefly towards the end.
Vitriolo plays a style of black'n'roll that is very satanic sounding as well as mixing in elements of first and second wave black metal to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics are written in Portuguese and cover Satanism, Demonolatry and Witchcraft themes.
In my opinion Vitriolo are a very great sounding black'n'roll solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lucifugo" "Sono Negro" and "Lilith". 8 out of 10.
