Perpetual Among Us are a band from Chile that plays a very atmospheric and omnipotent form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Thy Will Be Done" which was released by Australis Records.
A very dark sounding prelude starts off the album while also adding in a ritualistic touch before going into a heavier direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. At times the riffs also add in a small amount of melody as well as all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them. The music also has its atmospheric moments and clean vocals are also added into certain sections of the recording.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while some of the ritualistic elements from the prelude also return on some of the later tracks as well as one song also adding clean playing onto the recording, synths and spoken word parts can also be heard on the closing track. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover dark and occult themes.
In my opinion Perpetual Among Us are a very great sounding atmospheric and omnipotent black metal band and if you are looking for something that is very aggressive yet different at the same time, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Chapter One Aura" and "Chapter Four The Capture-Amen". 8/5 out of 10.
