Deadlight Sanctuary are a solo project from Norway that plays a bestial and abhorrent mixture of war, black, death and doom metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "Thaumaturgical Rites Of The Damned" which will be released on July 24th as a joint effort between Sentient Ruin Laboratories and Iron Bonehead Productions.
A very dark and ritualistic sounding intro starts off the album along with some synths, tribal drumming and whispered spoken word parts before going into a heavier direction. Bestial growls are also a very huge part of the recording along with the slower sections of the songs also bringing in elements of doom metal.
The synths also give the music more of an atmospheric feeling while the songs also add in a great amount of 90's influences. All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of raw tremolo picking blast beats, war and black metal elements.
An instrumental track also brings in a brief use of clean playing before returning back to a heavier direction on the remaining songs, a couple of tracks are also long and epic in length and when guitar solos and leads are finally utilized briefly they are done in a very dark yet melodic style. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover esoteric, necromantic, ritualistic and death themes.
In my opinion Deadlight Sanctuary is a very great sounding bestial and abhorrent mixture of war, black, death and doom metal, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Trance Of Doom" and "Cloaked In The Lurking Fear". 8 out of 10.
