Eihort are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a very melodic and old school style of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Consuming The Light" which will be released on June 25th by Odium Records.
Melodic guitar solos and leads start off the album along with some heavy riffing a few seconds later. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized they also give the songs more of a raw feeling while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. A lot of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era along with the tracks also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as one song also introducing acoustic guitars and synth onto the recording, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly and the closing track is a cover of Samael's "Blood Ritual".
Eihort plays a style of black metal that is very melodic and aggressive in the mid 90's European tradition. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Eihort are a very great sounding melodic and old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Holy Venom On The Lips Of A Whore" adn "Blood Ritual". 8 out of 10.
