Spain's Empty have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more of an atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Omnia Amet Lorem" which was released by Drakkar Productions.
Tragic sounding keyboards start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody and the music also h as its atmospheric moments.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while some tracks also add in a small amount of clean playing. Keyboards also mix in with the heavier sections of the songs at times along with one song also introducing clear vocals onto the album as well as some spoken word parts also being utilized in certain sections of the recording.
When guitar solos and leads are brought into the music they are also done in a very melodic style along with one track also adding in a brief use of whispered vocals and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the album more of a raw feeling as well a couple of tracks also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover death, emptiness, despair, solitude and negativity themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Empty and if you are a fan of atmospheric and depressive black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Inclination Towards Decay" and "Decease Of Internal Light". 8 out of 10.
