This is a review of a split album between Greece's Cult Of Eibon and Finland's Ceremonial Torture called "Necromonical Mirror Divination" which will be released in December by Iron Bonehead Productions and we will start off t he review with Cult Of Eibon a band that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays an old school Hellenic form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some synths which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. All of the musical instruments on their side of the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the vocals being mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's Greek style along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic yet old school style. melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing as well as some growls also being utilized at times, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. most of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction and on one song also adds in a brief use of fast playing, raw tremolo picking and blast beats, whispers can also b e heard on the closing track. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover the writings of H.P Lovecraft, and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Cult of Eibon and if you are a fan of old school Hellenic occult black metal, you should check out their side of t he split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Burning Gates Of Acheron".
Next up is Ceremonial Torture a band that plays an old school form of occult black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some epic sounding synths which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. The bass guitar takes over the role of a lead instrument along while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams that go into a deeper direction at times.
The songs also add in some melodies along with the synths also adding in some psychedelic touches. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can b e heard which also gives the tracks more of a raw feeling The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Occultism and Necroabyssic Mysteries.
In my opinion Ceremonial Torture are a very great sounding old school occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMEMNDED TRACK "Summoning At The Gothic Graveside".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and i would recommend it to all fans of old school and occult black metal. 8/5 out of 10.
