Änterbila are a band from Sweden that plays a folk infleunced form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2022 album which will be released in December by Nordvis Produktion.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album along with some elements of folk music a few seconds later which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while some songs also add in a small amount of acoustic guitars. Nature sounds can also be heard briefly along with one song also adding in a small amount of spoken word parts and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard.
One track also introduces angry shouts in the music along with the tremolo picking in the faster riffing also giving the music more of a r aw feeling. Some of the tracks also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as one song also adding in a brief use of clear pagan vocals and chants and the recording closes with an acoustic instrumental. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover the struggles of the peasantry of old.
In my opinion Änterbila are a very great sounding folk influenced black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hemlängtan" and "Vita piskan". 8 out of 10.
