Urfaust are a band from t he Netherlands that plays an atmospheric form of black metal with elements of ambient and this is a review of their 2023 album "Untergang" which will be released on August 25th by Van Records.
A very distorted sound starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording. Clear singing can also be heard briefly along with the music also having its atmospheric moments and when synths are utilized they also being in element s of ambient.
High pitched black metal screams are also a very huge part of the recording while the slow drum beats also give the songs more of a militant atmosphere. Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the riffs also adding in a small amount of melody at times, dark soundscapes can also m be heard briefly . They also bring in a couple of instrumentals and the whole recording sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
Urfaust plays a style of ambient black emtal that is very atmospheric and mid paced sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Dutch and cover Occultism and Afterlife themes.
In my opinion Urfaust are a very great sounding atmospheric ambient black metal band and if you a re a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Leere" and "Abgrund". 8 out of 10.
