Ziver is a solo project from Hungary that plays a very atmospheric form of ambient black metal and this is a review of his self released 2023 ep "Permeteg".
Ambient style synths start off the ep and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Clean playing is also added on some of the tracks while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and the music also has its atmospheric moments.
Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the modern era and most of the ep sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction and a couple of songs also adds in a brief use of spoken word parts and whispers.
Ziver plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric sounding as well as adding in elements of ambient to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in German and cover anxiety, inner struggles and the raw power of nature.
In my opinion Ziver are a very great sounding atmospheric sounding ambient and atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Permeteg" and "Veszharang". 8 out of 10.
