Path Of Redemption are a band from Spain that plays a very melodic and old school mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of t heir 2025 ep "Echoes From The Depths" which will be released in July by Northern Shadow.
Epic sounding synths start off the ep before going into a heavier and melodic direction while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. A lot of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's Swedish style along with the recording also adding in a lot of death metal elements and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style, back up shouts are also utilized briefly and one track also adds in a brief use of spoken words as well as the closing track being an instrumental.
Paths Of Redemption plays a musical style that goes back to the fast and melodic styles of Swedish black and death metal from the mid 90's era. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness themes.
In my opinion Paths Of Redemption are a very great sounding old school and melodic mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Profane Darkness" and "Where Broken Spirits Lie". 8 out of 10.
