Sigorspéd are a band from the United States that plays a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Everlasting Wisdom Of The Ancients" which will be released in July by Iron Bonehead Productions.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the album while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording. The solos and leads also add in a great amount of melody along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the tracks more of a r aw feeling.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the music is also very heavily rooted in the classic Swedish tradition. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with an instrumental also introducing clean playing onto the album, synths and battle swords can also be heard briefly.
Sigorspéd plays a style of pagan black metal that is very raw in the classic Scandinavian tradition. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover paganism, darkness and nature themes.
In my opinion Sigorspéd are a very great sounding raw and old school pagan black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ecstatic Trace Of The Warrior" "Venomous Betrayal Of The Sacred Dominion" and "The Ties Which Bind A n Eternal Brotherhood". 8 out of 10.
