Altar Of Gore are a solo project from New Jersey that plays a bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of his compilation album "Infinite Visions Of Violence & 2018 Demo" which will be released in 2023 by Sentient Ruin laboratories and consists of his 2018 and 2022 demo's.
A very dark, heavy and brutal sound starts off the compilation while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats and war metal elements. tremolo picking can also b e heard in some of the fast riffing which also gives the music more of a raw feeling and the vocals are mostly bestial growls.
Black metal screams can also b e heard at times while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the faster riffing along with the solos and leads bringing in more of an old school death metal style when they are utilized.
The closing track on the 2022 demo is also a cover of Hellhammer's "Aggressor" along with the opening song on the 2018 being over 7 minutes in length and also capturing a very apocalyptic atmosphere as well as the older tracks showing more of a rawer style than the newer material. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover violence, death and gore themes.
In my opinion Altar of Gore are a very great sounding bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Infinite Visions Of Violence" "Foul Dwellers In The Sacrificial Pit" and "The Vision of Blood". 8 out of 10.
