Sammale are a solo project from Finland that plays a Finno Ugric form of forest black metal and this is a review of his self released 2022 album which will b e released on December 30th by Naturmacht Productions.
Folk instruments start off the album before going into more of a heavier and atmospheric direction. All of t he musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams and synths can also be heard in certain sections of the the recording.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and nature sounds can also be heard briefly.
One of the tracks is also a folk music orientated instrumental along with most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length. Throughout the recording you can also h ear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the vocals also having their deeper moments. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover nature and paganism themes.
In my opinion Sammale are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Jo Hanki Haihtuu" and "Kalmanvaki". 8 out of 1 0.
